A Presence Was Missed This Year

Earlier this year, the Arizona REALTORS® lost a true champion: Frank Dickens. His presence was greatly missed in Boston, not just by us but by many others. I had a gentleman approach me after seeing Arizona on my name badge to ask me if Frank had come to Boston this year. He was visibly shaken to learn the news. So many of us looked to Frank for guidance, mentoring, and friendship.

The following was taken from Frank’s obituary:

Frank was actively involved in the real estate industry at the local, state and national levels. He was President of the Northern Arizona Association of REALTORS® in 1999, President of the Arizona Association of REALTORS® in 2007, and the 2009 Arizona REALTORS® Vision Award recipient. At the National Association he served as a Federal Political Coordinator for many years, currently for Representative Schweikert. He served on countless association committees at all three levels, he was a Professional Standards Hearing Chair, a Mediator, and had a significant and lasting impact on the industry.

Notably, in 2008 Frank was the Chair of the Arizona REALTORS® Protect Our Homes political committee that ran a successful ballot initiative to amend the Arizona Constitution to prohibit any new real property sale or transfer taxes. Additionally, Frank was active in other governmental, regulatory, legal and community affairs. Frank served on the Arizona Department of Real Estate Advisory Board as both Chair and member from 2005 to 2017; the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality On-site Wastewater Advisory Committee; as a Flagstaff Parks and Recreation Commissioner; and donated the land for the first Hospice Home in Flagstaff. He was a frequent expert witness for attorneys involved in real estate litigation and a Special Real Estate Commissioner for the Maricopa County Superior Court.

Thank you NAR, for recognizing his incredible passion for our industry. Your resolution to honor him during the Board of Directors meeting was a wonderful tribute.
